When talking to a telemarketer, most people probably think of the sales tricks. Trying to get someone to say yes or staying on the line for as long as possible without the other person being able to intervene. At Convins we do not believe in these tricks and we know that they simply do not work. It is better to have an honest conversation than a monologue. After all, no one is waiting for that. Thanks to our years of experience, we know what really works. In this blog, we will give you a few tips on how to conduct a conversation during telephone acquisition.
Be straight to the point
Don't beat around the bush, but say why you are calling as early as possible in the conversation. Don't let this be the first thing you say on the phone, a short introduction is always nice. However, immediately after the introduction, tell what the reason for the telephone call is. This way you will quickly find out whether your prospect is interested in your story or not. In this way, you not only save your prospect's time, but your own as well. This time can then be used again for prospects who may be interested. It is therefore important to state early on in the conversation why you are calling.
Keep the conversation positive and open
Nothing is a bigger conversation killer than a handful of closed questions. If you only get a 'yes' or 'no' from your prospect, you cannot have a good conversation. For example, do not ask if your prospect uses SEO, but ask what your prospect is currently doing to increase the findability of their website. Then you can give your prospect relevant information. Open questions lead to a completely different conversation than closed questions. It is also good to keep the questions positive. Why don't you use SEO?' creates a completely different atmosphere in the conversation than, for example, 'What have you already done with regard to SEO? The negative question can come across as arrogant and create an unpleasant atmosphere. So always make sure you keep your conversation positive.
